An-26 – Modernization of the radio navigation equipment

The modernization of the military transportation aircraft An-26.
Original navigation equipment was exchanged/completed with the GPS, VOR/ILS, ADF and DME systems in this avionics upgrade program. Weather radar and TCAS were installed as well. The outputs from all these systems are displayed on triple EHSI display system using the MFD-255K displays located in front of the pilots and navigator.
To ensure compatibility between the original equipment and the new one some already developed interface units were exploited and a new unit providing the connection to autopilot was developed - BPAP-26M. The BPAP-26M interface unit provides connection between GPS and the autopilot to facilitate the automatic route guidance according to flight plan entered into the FF 2101 GPS.
Further a system of secondary radar transponder TDR-94D was installed, working in Mode S. The transponder was up-graded to Mode S EHS in the second stage of modernization (project AM122) to meet the current legislative requirements.
