BKZ – block of terminal amplifiers

BKZ unit converts analog signals from the navigation systems meeting the „western“ standard into the format required by two NPP 1485MK horizontal situation indicators meeting the „Russian“ standards. BKZ is also capable to switch between three independent sources of the navigation information for theNPP 1485 MK indicators (NAV, GPS, ADF). Furthermore the BKZ block generates the 26V/400Hz reference voltage from the 3x36V/400Hz aircraft electric system to meet the requirements of ARINC 407 alternating current signals of the „western" avionics.

The unit facilitates the modernization of radio navigation equipment without the necessity to substitute original indicators and it also enables to interconnect mutually incompatible avionics standards.

Harness interface is represented by four DSUB 50 connectors.

The BKZ blocks are currently used on the aircrafts L-39ZA, where they ensure conversion between the following navigation signals:
• DTK and BRG from the FreeFlight 2101 I/O Approach Plus system in ARINC 407 format to SELSYN 36V signals.

• OBI from VIR-32 to Selsyn 36V signal after the conversion via BPP L39ZACZ unit from digital CSDB signal to ARINC-407 signal.

• ADF from RKL-41 to Selsyn 36V signal after the conversion via BPP L39ZACZ unit from DEZIN signal to ARINC-407 signal.

• The horizontal and vertical deviations from GPS and NAV (VIR-32) (±150mA up to 1000W) to deviations for NPP-1485MK (±250mA up 1000W).

• Switching between the sources of the navigation information for the NPP 1485MK and illumination of the corresponding annunciators indicating the source of the displayed information according to the position of the external switches.

• Source of the reference voltage 26V/400 Hz derived from the aircraft 3x36V/400Hz electrical network for the BPP-L39ZACZ, VIR-32 and GPS systems.

The unit was certified for environmental effects according to RTCA DO-160D and the operational temperature range with regard for its use in L-39 ZA aircraft and its installation in air conditioned space.
